The Comic

Following a gruesome encounter that causes her to run away from home, Cecilia seeks refuge with Roan, a long-lost step-brother who lives on the other side of the world. United by their shared trauma, the two develop a bond that at once heals and hurts. Will the two get along enough to exact revenge on the man who ruined their lives, or will they end up ruining each other in the process?

Lily in the Rough is a mature webcomic/webtoon that can be classified as suspsense, thriller, crime/mystery fiction, horror, slow burn, and romantic drama. It contains mature language and imagery, graphic bodily injury and death, and tackles themes of emotional, physical, sexual, drug, and alcohol abuse.

The Author

Hi, I'm Boots! An oversized bug that hatched from a Stygian grotto in 1996. I "live" in the Bay Area, California where I study clownology at UC Berkeley. When I grow up, I want to be Weird Al Yankovic. Some of my favorite things in this life, besides writing and drawing, include my fat stupid cat, finding new music, cooking, dancing, and meeting new people.

The Characters

Roan and Cici started off as one character--a male and female manifestiation of one troubled psyche constantly at war with itself. One incredibly laggy megadoc later, and their metamorphosis was complete so I could make them kiss and, in doing so, convey a narrative about abusive relationships, mental illness, addiction, oppression in various forms, and human duality.
